Saturday at Sluggo's
Besides being able to clean this entire apartment in thirty minutes, the best thing about living in 900 square feet is that it forces you to get out and make the city your own personal living space. Even when it's chilly outside, the sights, sounds, and the question marks as to what we might get into during a Saturday afternoon stroll are all more appealing than being cooped up with a hyper pomeranian. So, as usual, we bundled up and headed downtown with no real agenda in mind....
looking both ways before crossing the street
forrest was trying to lead us down ml king boulevard to champy's chicken for lunch but i had other (meatless) plans
salvador had to drink rusty water because we forgot to bring anything else
#notourbestmoment
chestnut street: tasty daylight donuts, sewn to the sky, go bagel,
and a few other shops i can't remember
on our way home, sal and i stopped at our usual breaking spot on the walnut street bridge
long way down
And finally it was time for lunch so we dropped off the fluff and made our way on foot to Sluggo's. Many readers, family members, and friends often ask me "why don't you cook as often anymore?" Well kids, here is the answer:
sluggo's vegetarian cafe
cool atmosphere - check!
hummus with warm pita and raw veggies - check!
lettuce leafers with tahini goddess dressing - check!
beer for forrest - check!
sluggo burrito stuffed with black beans, rice, grilled peppers and onions, and covered with vegan cheesy sauce, soy cream, and fresh pico - CHECK!
we haven't been to the vegan sunday brunch yet but since forrest is sooo excited about it (ha!), we'll be there soon
if you find yourself in chattanooga, this is a local must-eat (especially if you aren't into cows)

ReplyDeleteI feel like one day, on the off chance I might actually be in chattanooga...I'll have a pretty good idea of where to go and what to do because of this blog :).
ReplyDeleteP.s. I am also now pondering how can I get my hands on some vegan cheese sauce.
Mmmm. All this food talk made me a little hungry, but I'm in bed. So thank god. haha
ReplyDeleteMy new apartment is 420 square feet. Luckily there is a dog park close by so we don't go TOO stir crazy.
FORREST it is so heart warming that you take one for the team from time to time ,but always remember the meat eaters code P.I.T.A.
